MS Shuttering Plates: common questions
Should I choose 2 mm or 3 mm plates?
3 mm plates are heavier but stay flat longer and survive more reuse, which suits builders who own their plates. 2 mm plates are lighter and cheaper, and fine for most rental and general work.
How many times can a shuttering plate be reused?
It depends on care. Plates that are cleaned after every pour, oiled with a release agent and stacked flat last far longer than plates left with concrete on them. See our plate care guide.
How many plates do I need for my slab?
Divide the slab area by the area of one plate and add a little extra for edges and cuts. Our slab shuttering calculator does this for you, and we're happy to check your quantity.
Do you supply clamps and pins with the plates?
Yes. Wedge pins, shikanja clamps and props can be supplied with the plates so the whole formwork arrives together.
